Yeah. I think they're kinda brown with white flowers? My friend Shiemi showed me one once. This is like super processed for use in food, though, and it doesn't take much for flavor. Give it like two drops then mix it in.
[He goes ahead and begins to shape them into delicate flowers. Delicate and overly detailed flowers, even. He does it very patiently, taking his time with the first one before presenting it to Rin.]
[He looks over the pan, eventually reaching over to put a thumb down, leaving a slight imprint in the thin layer of butter, then a second one next to it.]
[He places them carefully, making sure to not ruin the delicate petals. Each cookie is placed exactly the same distance apart. The only way it could have been more accurate would be if someone had allowed him to use a ruler.]
[And he did an excellent job! Rin looks the tray over briefly to ensure that none are too close together but obviously finds no errors.
He gives a nod and moves to the small wood fired oven at the edge of the kitchen, crouching down to check the heat and add a little more fire with a few small bursts of blue flames from his hand.]
Alright. Should be hot enough. Bring the tray over here.
[That flame is intriguing. He's always been interested in anything related to cultivation or spells and if there's one thing this place has is more kinds of magic and powers for him to learn about.]
How are you doing that?
[He brings the tray over and tries to slide it into the oven.]
no subject
Nah. Gonna mix in the vanilla and salt until they're all blended together and smooth.
no subject
What's vanilla?
no subject
Never seen a vanilla plant before? It's for flavor.
no subject
He leans over to smell it. It smelled...sweet, almost cloyingly so.]
It comes from a plant?
no subject

[He's not questioning your authority(?) on this! But that seems awfully little.]
Is it really that strong?
no subject
no subject
There is an artificial version? Is it some sort of imitation? What is it made of?
no subject
[He's been working on his own side of the project, slowly warming up the pot needed to melt the caramel.]
Yeah, imitation, but I'unno what it's made outta.
no subject
[He mixes and it...smells different when it's less concentrated. Sweeter. He thought, he'd like to be able to bring some back with him.]
...that's too bad.
[If he did then maybe he could try to make some.]
no subject
[He really wasn't smart enough to know what sort of ingredients were in something he would normally have to buy at a store.]
Anyway, when that's all mixed in, you can start shapin' the cookies.
no subject
Like this?
no subject
They're almost too cute to eat!
But Rin did promise something tasty with the caramel, so he gives a nod and picks up a tray, greased with butter already.]
Yup. Put them on here. Make sure you leave a little space in between each one otherwise they'll just melt together.

About that big should be good.

Okay, when you've got the tray full, we can bake 'em. We'll have to wait until they cool a bit before we put the caramel on.
no subject
It's done!

[He closes the metal door after the tray is in, holding his hand up with pale blue flames flickering on the tips of his fingers.]
That's my power. I would get more if I used my sword, but I can still summon a bit to work in the kitchen like this.
