Let's go check it out, then! I bet we can finish this together. By the way, hey! Your ears. [ Vriska tucks her hair back, revealing a pointed ear quite similar to his own. ] They're like mine. That's cool.
[Oh no. That's... really cute. Rin is giving a toothy grin back, nodding as he motions to the front door of the house for her to follow.]
Oh, yeah! Neat! No one else has ears like mine here, at least that I've met so far. 'course I'm pretty sure I'm the only half demon here still. Not that anyone seems to care.
[He went in to the house ahead of her, leaving the door open as he went through to the kitchen, starting to dig around in the drawers.]
[ Oh shit he has fangs! Whaaaat? Who is this boy. At first blush he looked kind of like a human, but the longer she looks at him the more the differences become apparent. It makes her feel at ease around him in a way she just isn't with the other humans she's met, who always see her as so alien and frightening.
also
he wags his tail when he's happy, that's adorable, what the fuck?
hm.
anyway,
something about that makes her bark a sudden laugh. ]
Sometimes people think I'm a demon! I'm not, though. Just one of a zillion dead alien kids. [ a beat, and: ] Have people really not given you shit? Sometimes when humans see me for the first time they freak out a little.
[ She'll bring the bag o' stuff inside with her, setting it down on whatever free space she can find before she turns to watch him. ]
[Fangs, tail, pointed ears... oh and blue flames with a kickass sword, but she doesn't know that part yet.
He keeps digging through drawers, knowing he's got to have at least a little something they can use to tie the sign up in the drawers. Of course it's a bit disorganized at the moment since he's been using found items and working in a really old kitchen for the past three months.
He keeps talking, though, obviously wanting to keep conversation up.]
I figured you weren't a demon, but I can see why people'd think it.
[Even exorcists back home would probably mistake her for one at first. Thankfully they're here, and not in True Cross.]
Eh, the worst I got was Maribelle bein' all confused that I was a demon and trainin' to be an exorcist. I think she still might be a little unsure about me? But yeah for the most part everyone here is just sorta... I'unno. I think they just don't care when there's bigger shit-- aha!
[He holds up a tiny spool of twine in triumph, nudging the drawer closed with his hip.]
[ Man, she'll think the kickass sword is SOOOO 8ADASS if she ever finds out.
Vriska, feeling more or less at her ease, does not pick up on the fact that he's putting effort into the conversation. Sorry dude. ]
Maribelle...
[ For a moment Vriska scrunches up her nose as she tries to connect the name to the person. Eventually: ]
The snooty blond chick? I can see it. Hey! You found it. Nice.
[ Grinning, Vriska will move over to him and snatch the twine from his hands, moving over to the sign. ]
Grab the rocks! Or, uh, I guess if you have like a chisel or an awl or something, that'd be better? We're going to have to carve holes in this thing. It'll be a pain in the ass, but it should be pretty sturdy once we're done!
[ Vriska tilts her head to consider that assessment, and then nods slowly, frowning thoughtfully as she briefly strokes her chin like a nerd. ]
Fair! It's more like she seems so tightly bound by ... uptightness? propriety? that she might snap in half if you so much as breathed on her funny. She's not bad or anything.
[ Vriska directs half a grin at him and shakes her head. ]
Nah. We'll use one of the rocks as a hammer if we need to, let's not ruin a real actual tool in this wasteland joke of a town. Plus, I have this weird feeling like we're going to get lucky and have an easy time of it! Trust me. I know what I'm talking about.
[She did go to all that trouble to make him a sign, and while they literally just met he trusts she knows what she's doing and not just because she said it. She's gone out of her way to help him this far, after all.
He nodded and set the sign down, looking at the rock curiously before taking it from her.]
Okay... what am I doin'? Might need to show me before I screw somethin' up.

Th... uh, thanks. [ She's beaming, though. She seems really flattered. ]

Date: 2018-06-07 07:26 am (UTC)Snooty? I thought more high strung. Kinda reminded me of my brother. He gets all wound up about shit like that, too. But yeah, that's her.
[As for tools...]
Only thing I've got are knives, and most of them are crap.
[Not having nice sharp kitchen utensils has been such a pain.]
Iiiiii do think I have a hammer upstairs though? Would that help?

[ She'll grab the rest of the things they need and practically bound outside, full of energy. ]
Here, put it down.
[ Dropping the bag, she'll pull out her "tools." It's pretty clear she pretty much just found these rocks somewhere. ]
I think you should do the honors. It's your sign, after all.
[ She'll smile more kindly, and hold out the sharpened rock. ]
